I can see how this would benefit me (adding value to what I offer) but also for Genarts. Is it that I could obtain a dongle from Genarts which would allow me to carry my license around? If so, I'm sure quite a few of us would be interested in purchasing a license. They seemed very interested in providing freelance editors with a heavily discounted price.Īn interesting idea, but how would this work? As a freelance editor I can only use Sapphire on a client's workstation if they hold a valid license. You see their effects used in a lot of Hollywood productions, both features and TV.

They do have a free trial download - I recommend you play around with it and see what you think. And no exageration, their customer support is nothing short of phenomenal. And they are frequently contacting you with free additional effect downloads to add to your toolchest. Overall comparing the two, I think Sapphire effects have a cleaner, better defined look than other VFX packages, including a very realistic rack focus effect. With the almost endless parameter permutations, color correction and film processor mimicking adjustors that are available, you can achieve just about any film look you can imagine. Then print exposure ajustments, control of levels for negatives, pre and post gamma adjust, just to name a very few. For some users who do a lot of grading and want to emulate the film look, that Sapphire effect is so robustly versatile and so deep, that it alone makes the package worth the price - mutliple film stock types to choose from to begin with.

This is ESPECIALLY true with Sapphire's film effect. Their adjustments and levels of parameters are deeper and more flexible than some BCC effects. I have Sapphire at TPC along with BCC and while it's true that they share a lot of the same types of effects, there are some areas where Sapphire is superior, like noise and grain reduction.
